THANK YOU Salem Youth Baseball!!

It was a rough weekend for Tag Day in 2018.

Salem Youth Baseball Board of Directors would like to Thank each and every player and parent who came out this weekend for Tag Day and helped make this year's fundraiser a great success!

Conditions were the worst they have been in years, but everyone came out and braved the elements to help their league for the upcoming 2018 season.

We were able to work with the town to lock down a couple of make up dates for those who may have missed this weekend due to unforseen circumstances.  We will have a couple of Wednesday evenings at the transfer Station and we will announce sign ups and dates very soon.  These slots will be available first come first served, and will most likely fill very quickly.  All others who opt out will be expected to donate $75 to Salem Youth Baseball.

Thanks again everyone and we will see you all at the fields.....in T-Shirts, very soon!

SYB Challenger Program

What is the Little League Challenger Program?

The Little League Challenger Program is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Who can participate in the Little League Challenger Program?

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school.

Is there a cost to participate in the Challenger Program?

There is no cost in Salem NH to play Challenger Baseball.

What rules are followed during a Challenger game?

Flexibility and adaptability are key during Challenger games. Typically games are 1-2 innings long and last about an hour. All players play defensively and bat every inning. Games occur Saturday mornings at 9:00 at Michele Park in Salem. Start date is TBD, depending on the weather.  Watch for announcements here and everyone signed up will be contacted.

What are “buddies” and what role do they have in the Challenger Division?

Buddies are individuals who assist Challenger athletes in the areas of batting, base running and defense, but only as needed. Often buddies are peer athletes who are participating in the Little League Baseball or Softball program.

New Little League bat rules

Beginning this spring season Little League will be going to a new bat policy and almost all of the bats the players have used previously will no longer be allowed for use in Little League games.

We ask that you please take a moment and review the Little League website below before purchasing a new bat.  The new bats for Little League play are now available at most retailers.

Please check any bat you are purchaseing carefully for the new, proper "USA BASEBALL" stamp.  Older bats with the "USSSA" stamp, which are no longer legal for play, are still for sale in some places.
